|Olga LaVerne Lane Gafford, 91, of Spearman died Friday, December 7, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 10 in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Olga was born July 12, 1921, in Turkey, Texas to Gerald Cleveland and Veda Bellah Lane. She was united in marriage to J.D. Gafford in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1963. Olga was a member of the Spearman Church of Christ. She was a master seamstress and bread baker and loved sharing her gifts with many. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought joy to her life. Doing for others gave her much satisfaction and fulfillment.
The legacy she leaves behind is that God comes first in everything, always do what is right, regardless of the outcome, treat others with respect, strive to do the best in all you attempt, you can always do anything anyone can show you and always go the extra mile, work hard each and every day and remember home is where families belong.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Condyke; and two brothers, Dean and Tink Lane.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Glyndon Gafford and wife Dorothy of Hendrix, Oklahoma, Max Rodney Gafford and wife Yvonne of Merino, Colorado, and Ladd Lane Gafford and wife Cathy of Spearman; two daughters, Deanne Miller of Canadian and Marlane Nollner and husband Sonny of Spearman; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews
The family suggests memorials be to The High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79118; or Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.
Visitation will be today and Sunday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. Monday in the Church of Christ in Canadian.
