Ethel Pauline Depew, age 85, departed this life early Sunday morning, March 17, 2013, where she joined the heavenly choir. She was born April 19, 1927, in Spearman, Texas to Ralph and Myrtle Fullbright. She was the fifth of six siblings, three of whom preceded her in death. She is now reunited with Orville Fullbright, Edith Pipkin and Reba Banks. She is survived by her husband, J.W. Depew of Perryton, Texas; sons Ralph Depew of Perryton, Texas, Clint Depew of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Roland Depew of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother Wilbur Fullbright of Katy, Texas; and her sister Edna Scroggs of Coweta, Oklahoma.

Ethel attended Spearman schools and graduated a year early at the age of 16 as Valedictorian of her class. At an early age, she discovered her love of God and her musical talent. Her commitment to each and her desire to be a preacher's wife inspired her to marry J.W. Depew on July 24, 1946. (Dad used to say that he had to wait until Ethel grew up to ask her to marry him.) Together they moved into full time ministry. As they followed God's direction, they evangelized in the southwest and pastored in Colorado, Kansas, Alaska, Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. Ethel devoted her life to raising her boys to serve and love God and to being a full time pastor's wife. She was a consummate musician who played the piano, organ, and accordion beautifully. She taught piano to many students and inspired them to develop their skills and commitment to the church. One of her quietly done ministries was that she would give minister's wives piano lessons for free. She and J.W., her husband of 67 years, sang and ministered to many people during all their years of marriage, including 45 years of pastoring in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Additionally, Ethel was a dedicated prayer warrior who saw God save, heal and change the lives of many people in the churches she and J.W. pastored. (Many have shared that she would stay up all night praying when they called her....praying until she knew that God had lifted the burden.)

Ethel was the mother of three sons: Ralph, Clinton and Roland Depew. Ralph married Shirley Jean Shepherd; Clint married Shirley Ann Hill; and Roland married Kathy Sue Stirling. From these marriages, seven grandchildren were born. Westlane Depew and Jordan Depew were born to Ralph and Shirley. Jennifer Taylor and Jodi Conachen were born to Clint and Shirley. Julia Depew, Deneille Golden, and Megan McLeod were born to Roland and Kathy. Also, Ethel was blessed with seven great grandchildren, who are Alexis Conachen, Kellen Conachen, Connor Conachen, Cole Taylor, Macey Taylor, Asher Golden and Micah Golden.

Although she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and fellow church members, she fought a good fight, kept the faith and is now rejoicing in her heavenly home. A celebration of Ethel's life will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Worship Center, located at 2210 SW 15th Avenue in Perryton, Texas.
