In 1948, her sister Connie asked that she help her move from California to Fort Worth, TX.
At that time she enlisted in the newly formed US Air Force in 1949 and was initially stationed in San Antonio, TX. After basic, she was assigned to Chanute Air Field, IL, where she served as a weather observer. Not long after, she was reassigned to Randolph Field in San Antonio, TX, where she met and married H.M. Her husband worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for over twelve years, being moved from various booster plants and towns around the Texas Panhandle. The family finally settled in Gruver, TX in 1965. At that time, Mr. Frazier began farming at the Frazier farm that had been established northwest of Gruver in 1929. While raising four children, three girls and a boy, Bertie began work at Gumphrey's Insurance agency as well as DeeAnn's Dress Shop in 1967. Soon after, Mr. Ralph Bort asked Bertie to begin working at the Gruver State Bank, where she worked from 1968 - 1991. After she was finally able to retire, H.M. and Bertie were able to enjoy extensive travels throughout the USA, Europe and Egypt while visiting their children. They were also able to enjoy the company of many local couples that met up at their house for pre-football game gatherings.
