Andy Jay
Scarborough
Mar 3, 1958 — Jan 2, 2023
Hurst
Andy Jay Scarborough, 64, formerly of Spearman, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Spearman, at 10:00a.m. with Dr. Chad Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Hansford Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Andy Jay Scarborough was born in San Angelo, TX on March 3, 1958. He married Janet (Hollis) Scarborough of Perryton, TX on December 16, 1978, and they were married for 44 years. They resided in Nebraska, Oklahoma and settled in Spearman, where they raised their family, connected to the community, and served in many capacities.
Andy loved his community and invested deeply in the Boy Scouts of America by serving as Scout Master and leader to many young men in Spearman. He served on the school board, where his desire to help others was evident. He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years. He loved trucks and sunsets. He would take any opportunity to admire both.
He was always a cowboy even, when not on a horse. After retiring from Chevron after 35 years, he moved to Hurst, TX with his wife and daughter but always considered Spearman his home. He loved his family above all and gave everything he could to be their PaPa, dad, and husband. He loved books, libraries, historical markers, and museums. He never met a stranger and would do anything to help anyone. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Jadis (14) and Corin (13) but his princess would always be his daughter Andi Linn and Chad would always be his "Hoss". He gained another daughter through Chad's wife, Shannon, who was the perfect addition to the Scarborough family.
After a brief battle of cancer, Andy went home to be his Savior and his son on January 2, 2023. His compassion, generosity, kindness, unique sense of humor and love for learning are attributes that his life will continue to impact those he knew and loved.
He is preceded in death by his cowboy, Jay Allen Scarborough, his father, James Elton Scarborough, his sister, Sue, and brother, Scott.
He is survived by wife (Janet Scarborough), daughter (Andi Linn Scarborough) of Hurst, TX, son (Chad Scarborough) and his family (Shannon, Jadis, Corin Scarborough) of Shelby, MT, two sisters, one brother, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
