Bernarda Rita Olivarez, 57, of Waka, TX passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Waka, Texas. A Rosary will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spearman, Texas, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 7:00 P.M. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spearman, Texas with Father Anthony Yanamala officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman, Texas.

Bernarda was born on May 23, 1965, in Rio Grande City, Texas to Guillermo and Aurora (Bazan) Vela. She married Joe on December 5, 1984, in Spearman, Texas. She enjoyed helping with the Walk to Emmaus at the Waka Christian Center and she helped make prayer shawls with the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Olivarez of the home; daughter,  Maria Vela of Spearman, Texas; sons, Reuben Olivarez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Olivarez of San Jose, California; brother, Ted Vela of Gruver, Texas; sisters, Barbara Rojas of Spearman, Texas, Criselda Vela of Los Angeles, California, Ciria Vela of Spearman, Texas, Mary Vela of Dumas, Texas, Leticia Salazar of Gruver, Texas, Teresa Vela of Spearman, Texas; grandchildren, Dalton Shields, Lilly Shields, Caleb Anaya, Isaiah Olivarez, Madyson Olivarez, Jakobe Olivarez, Angel Olivarez, David Olivarez Jr.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Delores Moreno, and her brother, Guillermo Vela Jr.
