Bobby Dean
"Bob" Bond
Jul 31, 1932 — Sep 15, 2025
Perryton
Bobby Dean "Bob" Bond, formerly of Perryton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at his home in Boerne, Texas. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Bob—known affectionately as Grandpa, Papa, Grappy, Uncle Bob—was born Sunday morning, July 31, 1932, at 8:00 a.m. in Paoli, Oklahoma, in the home of his parents, Henry Hayden Bond and Opal Blanche Morris Bond.
Bob received his name from his older brother and sister, who chose it after a childhood playmate they cherished. He and Jay, his older brother, had a great relationship. Bob always told stories of their adventures running around Rush Springs, OK, best of friends.
Some of his fondest childhood memories were of sitting on his grandparents' porch, listening to his grandfather's stories. This tradition carried forward to his own children and grandchildren, who grew up joyfully gathered around the family table listening to Geraldine, their mother, grandmother, and the love of Bob's life, tell funny stories, usually about Bob.
Bob and Geraldine met while he was the News Editor and she became the hot-type setter for the Perryton Herald. They married the 6th of February 1960 with Paul Bond as their first child, followed by the twins Duane and Diane. Deborah completed their happy family a few years later. They were always a news family, with each of the kids completing newspaper routes, while Geraldine loved and supported them all, often with a route of her own.
Bob and Geraldine also served their community as civil servants and fervent supporters of their church. For nearly 20 years, Bob was the Ochiltree County Auditor. For much of that time, he served as the song leader for the First Assembly of God, while Geraldine played the organ there. During that time, Geraldine cared for youth in the community as the county juvenile probation officer. Their dedication to the community went much further than their careers, with tons of grandkids, nieces and nephews in the community, plus ALL of their friends. Bob and Geraldine's house was a house of joy and family, with fresh bread or cinnamon rolls always available and ice cream in the freezer. One of their happiest times was when they retired and lived at the Stonewall Guest Ranch in Colorado. While they had always camped in Colorado, for a time they were able to live there, before returning to Perryton to continue on with Bob's tax/bookkeeping business.
If you knew Bob, you knew he loved OU football and that he was proud to have served in the US Army in Okinawa during the Korean War. He would often speak of his time in Okinawa with the Army and the fact that in his subsequent years while he attended OU, they never lost a single football game!
Many of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids were treated to an OU game and we would often hear about his time there, how much his fraternity meant to him and how much his education meant to him. He was fiercely proud of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, bragging about us to embarrassment. We will all miss him dearly.
Bob is survived by his four children: Paul Bond, Duane Bond (and his wife, Tami), Diane Dalton, and Deborah Clenney (and her husband, Kim). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan Bond, Danielle Coulter Vackar, Michelle Coulter Salim, Haley Coulter Taylor, Tyler Barchenger, Madison Bond Trcka, Jaxen Bond, Parker Bond, Courtney Clenney, and Morgan Clenney, as well as several great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Reeves Bond, his parents, Henry and Blanche Bond, brothers Jay Bond and Tom Bond, and his sisters Lavonia Spencer, Lavada Bond, and Carol Watson.
