Nordeen Cochran, 87, of Spearman, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023.  Viewing will be on Monday, November 27, 2023 (12:00a.m.-9:00p.m.) and Tuesday November 28, 2023 (9:00a.m.-9:00p.m.) at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Church of Christ in Spearman, at 1:00p.m., with Minister Lance Mays of Texarkana, AR. officiating assisted by John Scott, Church of Christ of Spearman.  Burial will follow at Hansford Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Bura Nordeen Davis was born on  October 30,1936 in a farm house in rural Beaver County Oklahoma to Jesse Robinson Davis and Mildred Inez Beck Davis.  She married Robert Cochran on October, 31, 1954 in Boise City, Oklahoma.

Nordeen loved children and she and her husband Robert were house parents at the Spearman Children's Home from 1978 to 1984.  She cared for children in her home at various times from the early 60s to the mid-80s.  Many people in the Spearman area either placed their children in her care or were cared for by her as children.

Nordeen was an avid gardener and she kept a large vegetable garden on the lot at 701 East 2nd Street in Spearman.

She is survived by a son, Robert Cochran of Amarillo, daughters, Sheila Chappell and husband Lynn of Perryton,TX., Tina Mays and husband, Lance of Texarkana, AR., foster daughter, Linda Liss of Huntington Beach, CA., sisters Jessie Bushong of Claremore, OK., Charlotte Taylor of Bartlesville, OK., Kathryn Villanueva of Bartlesville ,OK., brother, Bud Davis of Puyallup, WA. and sister-in-law Joann Cochran of Keys, OK.  She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home.
