Catalina Espinosa de Matehuala Araiza, 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024.

Viewing will be on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall at 3:00p.m.and Rosary at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 6:00p.m.   Mass will be on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spearman with Father Anthony Yanamala officiating.  Burial will follow at the Hansford Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Catalina was born in Peñuelas, Guanajato, Mexico, on February 13, 1928. She married Jesus Ortiz Espinosa on February 16, 1949. Catalina and family lived in Spearman since 1968.

Catalina was a woman of great faith. She was a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was the founder of the Guadalupanas in the Spearman area. She was a well-respected woman and gave her children and family an example of living a Catholic faith-based life.

Catalina was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus, her children Esperanza Puentes, Carlos Espinosa, Jesus Espinosa, Candelario Espinosa and Francisco Espinosa and great-grandchildren Jules Estevan Blan and Adalynn Marie Espinosa. She is survived by her children: Lupe Muñoz (Juan) of Spearman, Rosa Blan of Waka and special friend Arturo Romero of Antonchico NM, Miguel Espinosa (Eva) of Spearman, Berta Espinosa-Moore (Robert) of Albuquerque, NM, Ricardo Espinosa (Virginia) of Lubbock, and Margarita Espinoza (Elizabeth Wagner) of San Antonio, TX. Catalina is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to the Guadalupanas society or the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Hansford Hospice.
