Graveside services for Claude L. (Junior) Crossland will be held Sunday, November 19th at 2:00pm at  Hansford Cemetery.  Cremation  arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Junior was born July 13 1948 and passed away November 1, 2023.  Junior was born in Brownwood, Tx to Claude P. and Dorthea Lucille Crossland.  He graduated from Gruver High School in 1967 and from there began a much loved career of driving trucks.  He logged many miles driving for Phoebe Fox, Cardox and Spearman Super Service.  He traveled across the county hauling grain, fuel and liquid CO2.  His favorite thing to do was tell you about all the adventures he'd had while driving trucks.

In 1978 he met and married the love of his life, Stephanie Reed Crossland, who just happened to be employed by Spearman Super Service.  They were married in Juarez, Mexico with their taxi driver and an office clerk witnessing the ceremony.  They took it on good faith their marriage was valid, but as the marriage license was written entirely in Spanish they weren't ever completely sure.  August 11th of 2023 marked their 45th year to be married so they guessed it really didn't matter at that point.  Around that time Junior began a new career in the oilfield working for Transpetco in Spearman.  He stayed there for over 20 years.  After that, he became self-employed when he began Geezer Oilfield Pumping Services.  He and Stephanie Also owned the Bunkhouse Restaurant which served Spearman for 13 years.

Junior was an avid hunter, woodworker and craftsman and also loved playing dominos.  He completed many projects to enhance their home and restaurant but never quite got around to finishing the gazebo in their backyard.  Stephanie plans to remind him about it when they meet again.

Of all the things Junior accomplished in his lifetime, becoming a father to his daughter, Jessica and then being a grandpa was what he considered his greatest accomplishment.  NuNu, as he was called by his grandkids, cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.  He loved them all tremendously as each was very special to him.

Junior also had a fondness for 4-legged creatures.  He loved and cared for many lucky cats and dogs in his lifetime.  Miss Kitty (his red heeler dog) was his constant companion as his illness advanced.  She never left his side unless there was a house shoe or pillow she could shred into a million pieces.  She will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by is parents and a sister Joy Hansen.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie of Spearman, his daughter Jessica Dunnihoo and her husband Matt and their children Fischer, Piper and Jane of Tyler, Tx.  Extended family of Donna Millican, Robert Reed and Clay and Margaret Reid.  Special Cousins, and his nieces and nephews and their children who all fondly called him "Nooge".  Also, his group of dice playing friends that continually gave him reasons to laugh and enjoy a fun evening of good food and friends.

Words cannot express the appreciation for all the kindness that has been shown to the family during this difficult time.  Special friends that showed up at just the right time to drive us to the hospital, that held Junior's hand until the family could get there, that slept on the couch so the dog wouldn't be alone, to take care of all the things that wouldn't have gotten done and to give hugs and prayers that gave us the strength to carry on.  Special thanks to Dr. Mark Garnett for his care and guidance and to all the doctors, nurses and staff of Davita Dialysis.

As Junior would always say – "See you later Slick, glad you got to see me."
