Clifford Neil McGarraugh was born December 20, 1945 to Clifford Neil and Alta McGarraugh.  He grew up on his family farm, 28 miles south of Perryton.

In 1958, at the age of 12 years old, Cliff lost his father to a tractor accident, which set his destiny.  Even at that young age, he felt the responsibility to take care of his mother and continue the family tradition of farming and ranching.

For 77 years, his love was farming the land that his father left to the family.  In Cliff McGarraugh's world, the earth began and ended in Ochiltree County.  He loved fast cars, any kind of airplane, and the people of Ochiltree County.  As an adult he raised three children from his marriage to Tizzie:  Neil, Cody, and Mary.

Cliff enjoyed his involvement in all parts of Perryton life.  He worked on the boards of the Museum, Chamber of Commerce and Senior Citizens.  He also volunteered as a fire fighter and served as a County Commissioner.  For years, he shared his love of cooking by making chuckwagon dinners to support his favorite local organizations.

For years, Cliff could be found each morning at the Smokehouse, sitting at the farmer's table and dispensing his wisdom to anyone he thought needed to hear it.

He is survived by his mother, Alta Wood, brother Scott McGarraugh, children Neil McGarraugh, Cody McGarraugh, and Mary McGarraugh, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Neil, his grandson, Cole McGarraugh, and great grandson, Mateo Pena.

The family requests memorials be to the Harrington Cancer Center, 1751 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas, 79106; Ochiltree Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 738, Perryton, Texas, 79070; or one's favorite charity.
