Clifton Horton

October 5, 1946 – March 31, 2025

Clifton Horton, 78, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the hospital in Spearman, Texas.  Graveside services will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025, 10:00a.m at the Gruver Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

He was born on October 5, 1946, in Mississippi to Oscar and Reburn Horton.  Clifton lived a life of    hard work, devotion, and unwavering faith.

In 1968, he met the love of his life, Terry Been, and together they built a family, raising three children and later welcoming seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a good dad, a loving Papa, and a faithful man who loved the Lord. His faith was his foundation, guiding him through life with strength and kindness.

Clifton worked as both a construction worker and a security guard, but his true passion was in the skies. He loved flying his Aero Flight plane, finding freedom in the open air. But more than anything, he cherished time with his family, especially his granddaughters, Summer and Pepper. Las Vegas was his home for many years, where he made countless memories with them before moving to Gruver in February 2025 to live with his son, Billy Horton.

Clifton's legacy is one of love, faith, and family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories, laughter, and faith of those he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Geraldine Cuevas, Rammie Cook and Charlene Horton.

He is survived by his son, Kriston Horton of Las Vegas, NV, daughter, Trena Moser of Guymon, OK.; son, William Horton of Gruver, TX., sister, Pauline Hissim, brothers, Creley Horton and Jackie Horton. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Summer Horton, Pepper Horton, Justin Horton, Houston Garcia, Chloe Moser, Brielle Torres, Alexandria Horton, 2 great-grandchildren Pyper Garcia and Arya Luna..
