Dale Jones

Dale Jennings Jones, 82, of Pringle, ascended to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, surrounded by family at his home of more than 40 years.

Dale was born at the old St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo on Aug. 31, 1938, to William Samuel "Bill" Jones II and Opal Jameson Jones of Spearman. He grew up in the Holt Community and Spearman, and attended Spearman public schools along with his younger brother, Don Jones. He graduated from Spearman High School in 1957, and attended West Texas State College, where he met the love of his life, Martha Harding. The two were married on Dec. 20, 1959 in Canyon.

Dale and Martha farmed in Hansford and Moore Counties from 1959 until 1998, while raising four children in the Pringle-Morse community. Dale was later ordained as a minister in the Disciples of Christ. He served as minister of the Fritch First Christian Church for several years, and later drove school bus for Pringle-Morse Schools.

The Jones family were long-time members of the Spearman First Christian Church, and Dale's strong faith preserved him throughout his entire life. In addition to being a man of God, Dale was friendly and quick to engage anyone in conversation, anywhere, at any time, and he was as quick with a kind gesture or deed as he was with a story or joke.

Dale is survived by his wife, Martha, of Pringle; his brother Don and his wife Jeannie, of Apache Creek, NM; his children — Dan and his wife Melissa, of South Fork, Colo.; Betsy and her husband Rudy Ramirez, of Placitas, NM; Matt and his wife Gina, of Lubbock; and Andy, of Taos, NM; and 11 grandchildren: Heather Hamilton, Rudy Ramirez, Lee Ramirez, Nick Ramirez, Tyler Hamilton, Abbey Pasley, Autry Jones, Sydney Jones, Alex Ramirez, Gillian Ortez y Jones and Vida Ortez y Jones; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a whole world of friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Lieb Cemetery between Pringle and Morse, at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 21.  Arrangements by Boxwell Brothers of Spearman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church of Spearman, or to Lieb Cemetery Association, 9414 County Road E., Stinnett, TX 79083.
