Doug was born on September 25, 1951, to Lola M. and Onan T. Kile in Borger, Texas. The family moved from Phillips to Fritch, Texas in 1958. He graduated from WTSU in 1974 with a BBA in Accounting. Shortly thereafter, he passed the CPA exam and became a professional accountant.
Doug started his career in Canyon with Brown, Graham & Co., then moved to their Perryton office. Subsequently, he started his own professional accounting firm in Perryton, and was still working up to the time of his death. He also worked for Perryton ISD and served as their Chief Financial Officer and retired with them in January 2023.
Doug married Gay on November 17, 1984. Gay had two children from a prior marriage. Gay preceded him in death in May 2023. Doug loved to watch football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He loved taking memorable trips across the country and abroad with his wife and family.
Doug was the kindest, gentlest soul one would hope to meet. He was authentic and loved dearly. Doug would never back down from a good debate or helping someone along the way. He was renowned for his gift of patience, not holding back his opinion, especially in politics, and telling his truth, even when you didn't want to hear it. He cherished his lifelong enduring friendships.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife, and daughter-in-law Stephanie Bates.
Those left to cherish his memory are Torri Janzen (Rusty), Kyler Bates, Sisters Sally Gaines (Doug), and Laura Pazmino (Willie). Brothers Steve Kile (Teri), Mark Kile (Jan), and Glenn Kile (Debbie). Granddaughters Hanna, Emily "Emjay", and Savana.
Following his wishes, Doug had requested donations be made to the "Stephanie Strong Foundation" in care of the Spearman First National Bank, to assist deserving students to further their education.
