Evelyn was born on January 26, 1933 in Perryton, Texas to George Samuel Yates and Jewell Ida Pitts Yates.  She married her husband, Bob Wayne Barnett, Sr., on February 1, 1949. They had two daughters and one son.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Perryton.  She started a program at First Christian Church called Young at Hearts.  She saw the need for the program and began it for older people to come and sing, eat, and play games together.  It was a blessing to many, and in her later years, she attended a similar group called Happy Timers.  While she was able, she gave the devotion at Happy Timers.  She was a source of encouragement and inspiration to so many, a true servant of God!

Evelyn's most beloved times were being President of the Jennie June Club and President of the Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary, which is the Pink Ladies.  She had devoted many hours to both of these organizations, and they had a special place in her heart.  She also served on the Beehive Daycare Board, Senior Citizen Board, United Way Board, Waka Christian Board, and she was the Lay Director of one of the Walks to Emmaus.  She had prepared and given many motivational speeches in Dallas and other places to professional men and women at insurance conferences.  She was very gifted and organized in her positions of leadership.

Evelyn received many awards in her lifetime.  A few of them were the Workhorse of the Year in 1986, given to her by the Kiwanis organization, the Gold Star Citizen Award presented by the Chamber of Commerce, and the Recognition for Community and Service Award from the Modern Woodmen.  She had been honored many times because she was a lady with many talents, and she willingly shared them!

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Judy Hutchison and husband Joe of Pampa, Texas, and Sandy Judice and husband Sammy of Perryton, Texas; four granddaughters, Jennifer Herold and husband Scott, Stacy Johnson and husband Brad, Jodie Johnson and husband Dean, and Julie Babbs and husband Kevin; three grandsons, Chester Hutchison and wife Rebecca, Cody Hutchison, and Brent Judice and wife Kelly; fifteen great-grandchildren, Avery Hutchison, Ellie Hutchison, Harper Herold, Colbie Evelyn Herold, Connor Herold, Piper Johnson, Sam Johnson, Hayley Correll and husband Matt, Rio Judice, Yancey Judice, Kylie Johnson, Jared Johnson, Kearstin Babbs, Ella Babbs, and Pake Babbs; and four great-great grandchildren, Evelyn Correll, Yates Correll, Joseph Randolph Correll and Jacob Pike Correll.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and her son, Bobby Wayne Barnett, Jr.; and four brothers, Dale Yates, Don Yates, Lloyd Yates and Leland Yates.

The family requests memorials be to the Waka Christian Center, the Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary, or one's favorite charity.
