Randy was born on February 14, 1944, in Levelland, Texas, to Fred Barnes and Lois Thomas Barnes. He served proudly four years in the United States Air Force. He married Lenora Oatman on June 4, 1983, in Quail, Texas. He served in education administration for 43 years, including Shallowater, White Deer, and eventually 30 of those years for Perryton Independent School District. He cherished the relationships with many colleagues and students through the years. Randy was an avid fan of the Perryton Rangers, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the Dallas Cowboys. Randy had deep respect for the individual and a fierce loyalty to his friends and country. In addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren, Randy enjoyed reading, watching movies, writing, and family gatherings where many fond memories and laughs were shared as well as legendary intellectual debates with his brother. Of the many things that brought him joy, none compared to the pride and love he had for his children and becoming Big Daddy to his grandchildren.

Randy is survived by his wife, Lenora Barnes of Perryton, Texas; two sons, Wayne Barnes and wife Kristi of Coppell, Texas, and Zach Barnes of Perryton, Texas; two daughters, Wendi Casillas and husband Rob of Pflugerville, Texas, and Whitney Price and husband Cameron of Perryton, Texas; one brother, Larry Barnes and wife Mary of Oak Point, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Warren and husband Don of Andrews, Texas; five granddaughters, Ashley Barnes, Natalie Barnes, Robin Jacobs, Brenlyn Price and Addlee Price; and three grandsons, Jacob Barnes, Ben Casillas and Kevin Casillas.
