Glendell Wayne Meyer was born November 10, 1936, on the farm to Dick and Vic (Severin) Meyer. He was the youngest of six children, Cecil, Melvin (Buddy), Wendell, Clarine (Sis), Bernerd (Cotton), Glendell. All the boys were in charge of milking the cows and feeding the pigs. Which is the very reason he never raised "milk cows" or pigs on his farm. Glenny attended school at Booker, and worked for Harry and Aileen Mitchell until he began working for himself. He met Rose Marie Hoover in Booker in 1954. They married in January of 1958 and made their home in town, but quickly moved out to the country. In 1974, Glenny bought the home place where he had been born and raised. At this point he began his life as a farmer and rancher. Glenny and Rose Marie raised their three boys Rodney, Blaine and Darren at the home place. He made sure to instill the values of hard work in his boys. Glenny taught each of them how to drive the tractor at a young age so they could help plow the fields, and they remember that if they ever missed any weeds, he brought them a gardening hoe. They made sure to do it "right" every time after that. He loved horses, he had several favorites but Crybaby and King were his all-time favorites.
Glenny was a hard man, but he loved his family just as hard. He had a thing about giving out nicknames for people, each of his boys had a name he called them growing up, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glenny enjoyed spending time with his sons, working cattle, working harvest, or just visiting. He had a soft spot in his heart for all of his grandchildren, he enjoyed following them around to any and all extracurricular activities. Glenny especially loved spending time with and bragging on his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rose Marie of Booker, TX, son Rodney Meyer of Balko, OK, son Darren Meyer and wife Teresa of Booker, TX, daughter-in-law Brenda Meyer (Blaine) of Booker, TX, brother Wendell Meyer of Olton, TX, sister Clarine (Sis) Deeds and husband Gene of Lubbock, TX, brother Bernerd (Cotton) Meyer and wife Sue of Malakoff, TX, sister-in-law Virginia Meyer of Darrouzett, TX , his grandchildren Monica Nielsen and husband Jay Dee of Laverne, OK, Zane Meyer and Karly Gillispie of Shattuck, OK, Zack Meyer and wife Kayla of Kingfisher, OK, Shianne Johnson and husband Jeremy of Shattuck, OK, Josh Meyer and wife Christine of Meeker, OK, Larisa Talamantez and husband Chris of Booker, TX, Blair Skipper and husband Stephen of Booker, TX, Jackson Meyer and wife Shaniah of Amarillo, TX, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
