Joe " Rex" Burgess, 84, of Spearman passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023.  Viewing will be on Monday, August 14, 2023, (5:00p.m.- 9:00p.m.) and Tuesday, August, 15,2023, (9:00a.m. - 9:00p.m.) at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman.  Graveside services will be at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, August 16,2023 at the Hansford Cemetery with Rev. Mark Murray.  Arrangements are under the directions of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Rex was born, June 17, 1939 in Dalhart,Texas to Bob Burgess and Minnie Timmons Burgess. Rex and Jean Robertson were married on April 13, 1958 in Stratford, Texas. He enjoyed farming and was one amazing cowboy that loved to work cattle.  He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and  great-grandfather.  He enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rex is survived by his wife, Jean of Spearman, daughters, Debi Fowler of Wellington, TX. ,Teri Jo Crites of Pampa,TX.  and son, Wade and wife Meli Burgess of Spearman. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
