John Robert Overton, Jr., 77, of Perryton, Texas passed away July 8, 2026 in Borger, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Key Heights Baptist Church in Perryton, Texas at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Duce Cooper. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton, Texas.

John Robert was born on October 2, 1948 in Perryton, Texas to Jackline Phipps Overton and John Robert Overton. He was a member of Key Heights Baptist Church in Perryton, Texas. He married his wife, Glynda, in Perryton on August 15, 1966. He worked as a truck driver in the petroleum industry, and he also served as a sheriff’s deputy. He was a veteran who served in the U. S. Army. His hobbies were model trains and gardening. He loved to play the guitar, and he loved to go fishing.

John Robert is survived by his wife, Glynda, of Perryton, Texas; one daughter, Heather Overton of Stanton, Texas; three brothers, Lyndon Overton of Follett, Texas, Neal Overton of Clairfield, Utah, and Tony Overton of Corpus Christy, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

John Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Glynn Overton; and one daughter, Sonya Karber.
