Jose R. Gonzales, 88, of Perryton, Texas passed away on November 7, 2023. Funeral Services will be on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Viewing/Visitation will be Thursday (11/9/23) from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday (11/10/23) from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton, Texas. A Family Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas.  Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Jose was born on May 21, 1935, in Rocksprings, Texas to Leonardo and Marcella Gonzales. He married Dolores Martinez on June 15, 1959.  He was a hard-working man and looked out for everyone. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three sons:  Michael Gonzales and wife Carmen of Booker, Texas, Jose Gonzales Jr. and wife Alma of Perryton, Texas, and James Gonzales and wife Pilar of Corpus Christi, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents, Leonardo and Marcella Gonzales; children, Marcella Sifuentes, Gloria Uribas, Jason Gonzales, and Lupe Gonzales; and grandsons, Ernie Pina and Dusty Sifuentes.
