Kenneth Word, 81, of Perryton, Tx passed away on January 25, 2023. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2023 at Southside Baptist Church in Perryton, Tx with Rev. Theodore Zachariades officiating. Burial will follow in Bickford Cemetery in Catesby, Oklahoma. Viewing/visitation will be Saturday (1/28/23) 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Sunday (1/29/23) from 1:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. and Monday (1/30/23) 9:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.

Kenneth Ray Word was born March 22, 1941 in Dos Palos, California to Edward and Mamie (Brown) Word. He married Verna Carnagey on December 25, 1960 in Higgins, Texas. Kenneth worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 37 years. He served on the Waka School Board and was past president of the Perryton Promenaders square dance club. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed piddling in the garage. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Perryton.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Verna, of the home; son, Tommy Ray Word of Dumas, Texas; daughter, Donna Barrow of Perryton, Texas; six grandchildren, Nathan Word, Tracy Word, Crystal Barrow, Zach Barrow, Kevin Keil, and Tonya Keil; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mamie Word; daughter, Joann Word; sister, Barbara Brown; brother, Clinton Word; half-sisters, Faye Collins, Onie Gowens and Mae Thomas.
