Larry was born in Borger, Texas, to Desmond Homer and Virgie Lee Kelly on January 10, 1944. His childhood was spent with his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and extended family in Morse, and he graduated from Gruver High School in 1962. Larry moved to California to pursue his deep love of and passion for stage acting.  He earned his Associates Degree from the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre Arts where he was awarded a scholarship for Outstanding Male Performer. Upon his graduation he was inducted into the United States Army where he served in Germany for two years and then transferred to United States Army Reserves, serving his country with distinction until his Honorable Discharge on January 6, 1971.

When Larry returned from Germany, and while continuing his USAR service, he began working as a network television editor for a studio in Burbank, California.  With a wife and three daughters he moved his family back to Morse and became a very diverse and successful businessman with a focus in the natural gas marketing industry. Upon retirement, he remained active in many business ventures and began day trading stocks and enjoyed keeping up with the market every day.  He also began embracing his lifelong dream of being a filmmaker working with writing, directing duo Greg Kwedar and Clint Bentley as an Executive Producer. Their first production together, Jockey, earned many industry awards.

A wonderful, devoted husband, father and grandfather, Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Mathews of Spearman, TX, her children and grandchildren, his daughter Rona and husband Jeff Davis of Richland Hills, TX, their children Brent Crable, Jordan and wife Kristen Kirk, Kaity and  husband Zayne Mahan, Kate and husband Austin Robinson, Maddie Davis and Ian Davis, daughter Jill and husband Stan Fletcher of Franklin, TN, her son Slone and wife Megan Starkey, daughter Stacy Kelly and her son Kaegan Lagerquist of Dallas, TX, and son William "Ty" and wife Carey Kelly and their daughters Layla, Emme, Macy, Isabella and Kensie of Coppell, TX.  Larry is also survived by six great-grandchildren and brother Ray and wife Anja Kelly of New York, NY, sister Elaine and husband Hal Raw of Greer, SC, sister Evelyn Kelly of Savannah, GA, and brother Don and wife Janis Kelly of Lowell, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
