Loretta Halpain, 89, of Perryton, Texas passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Perryton. A private family memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at Ochiltree Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Loretta was born October 3, 1933 in Follett, Texas. She married Edward Halpain on August 6, 1950 in Perryton, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Edward Jr (Sonny) and Vickie.
Loretta was famous for her beautiful flowers, especially the roses. She loved gardening. She often had crocheted and knitted projects going that were beautiful and challenging. She was also an avid reader. Her favorite hobby was dancing. She and Edward said they danced their way across the Texas Panhandle.
Loretta also worked for the police department when Sonny and Vickie were in school. She really enjoyed her employment there.
Later, Edward opened his own garage and Loretta did all the bookkeeping for the family business.
She was always there to take care of her family and her home was the hub for family gatherings. She taught herself to cook when she and Edward got married and the family always looked for her specialty German meals.
