Born on March 9, 1955, in Clayton, New Mexico, to Fred and Bessie (Woods) Cavin, Mary was a beacon of faith, kindness, and dedication. She married Buford Baker on March 4, 1972, in Clayton, and together they built a life rooted in love and service. Mary devoted 42 years as a ministry assistant at First Baptist Church of Spearman, mentoring over ten pastors and warmly welcoming all who entered. Her patience, compassion, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on her community. A loving wife, mother, and "Grammy," Mary cherished her family deeply. Her grandchildren adored her, and she found joy in gardening, tending to flowers, and collecting recipes. Mary's strength and selflessness were evident in all aspects of her life.
Mary is survived by her husband, Buford Baker of Spearman; her children, Brandon (Chelsie) Baker of Spearman, Melissa (James) Jansky of Klein, Texas, and Kevin (Adrienne) Baker of Dalhart, Texas; ten grandchildren: Max, Cana, Boone, Hannah, Taylor, Grant, Anthony, Aaliyah, Kylan, and Kinsler; and great-grandson, Raymond.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her four siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the First Baptist Church Elevator Fund or a charity of your choice.
