M.E. "Buddy" Benton, 88, of Spearman, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022.  Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Spearman at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Byron Potter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Spearman, Texas.

Buddy was born on July 8, 1933 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Willard Benton and Viola Cotton Benton.   He was an English teacher for many years in Spearman Schools.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spearman and a long time deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nell Benton, who passed in 2017.

Buddy is survived by two sons; Steve Benton and wife, Sheri, of Little Elm, Texas, Kent Benton and wife, Tammy, of Spearman, Texas; and daughter, Denise Harbour and husband, Roy, also of Spearman. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister Betty Sites of Sweetwater, Oklahoma.
