Nina Merkel, 79, of Perryton, Tx passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021.  A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Ochiltree Cemetery with Dan McDonald and Rev. Richard Laverty officiating. Viewing/visitation is scheduled 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday (11/10/21) and 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday (11/1//121) at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Nina was born on February 3, 1942 in Perryton, Tx to Wayne and Celia Nichols Cudd. She met her future husband, Leroy Merkel, during wheat harvest while he was here cutting wheat. They were married on August 3, 1961 in Perryton, Tx.

She is survived by her children, Eddy and Lisa Merkel of Booker, Tx, Jeff and Michele Merkel of Canyon, Tx and Kay Merkel of Booker, Tx; 10 grandchildren, Tyler and Valerie Merkel, Trevis and Meagan Merkel, Trenton and Charity Merkel, Tiffeney Merkel, Chris and Kendra McDonald, Kelsie and Neal Hay, Keaton and Vivane Burt, Keelie Burt, Addison Merkel, and Tori Merkel; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; parents, Wayne and Celia; and one brother, Chuck Cudd.
