Ronney E. Rainey, 82, of Perryton, Texas, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 in Perryton.  A memorial service will be held at a future date.  Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton, Texas.

Mr. Rainey was born on January 21, 1941 in Brownwood, Texas, to Elsworth Rainey and Pansey Newsmith.  He completed two years of college, and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and he retired from the Army in 1980.  He served in the Army for 22 years, and did three tours of duty in Vietnam.  He was extremely proud of serving his country.  Following his military service, he loved serving as a volunteer fireman in Bangs and Terlingua, Texas.  He married his wife, Ruthie Walker, on August 17, 1985 in Brownwood, Texas.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife, Ruthie Walker Rainey of Perryton, Texas; a son, Michael Rainey; two daughters, Suzanne Rainey and Katrina Valdez; two stepsons, Jimmy Don Edmondson and Randy Grayson; a stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Splan; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Rainey and wife Patsy of Brownwood, Texas, and Larry Rainey and wife Brenda of Omaha; and two sisters, Darlene Lowe and Linda Bean, both of Dublin.

Mr. Rainey was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Sue Hanson, his brother, Bobby Rainey; and his stepson, Wesley Couch.
