Sonya Lanell Karber, 56, of Perryton, Texas passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026 in Amarillo, Texas.  Viewing will be Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday, March 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.  The family will meet and visit with friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Sonya's funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Marlon Sparks.  Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton, Texas.

Sonya was born on November 1, 1969, in Perryton, Texas to Robert and Glynda Overton.  She graduated from Perryton High School, and she was a member of Southside Baptist Church.  She married her husband, Jason, on September 9, 1990, in Perryton, Texas.  During her husband's military service, she volunteered at the USO and served as President of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN 69 support group.  She loved to crochet and lovingly gave many of her projects away!  She had acquired tremendous knowledge about Social Security and Medicare, and she advised numerous people how to get and use those services.  Most of all, she loved her family more than anything.

Sonya is survived by her husband, Jason, of Perryton, Texas; three sons, Kelly Karber, John Austin Karber, and Jason Colt Karber, all of Perryton; her parents, Robert and Glynda Overton, also of Perryton; her mother-in-law Johnnie Karber of Perryton; and her sister Heather Overton of Stanton, Texas.

Sonya was preceded in death by one brother, Glynn Overton; and her father-in-law, Jerry Karber.

The family requests memorials be to any disabled children's program, or to any children's cerebral palsy program.
