Sue Akers
Lackey
May 27, 1942 — Dec 7, 2023
Lake Havasu City
Sue Akers Lackey, known as "TuTu" by her grandkids and great grandkids, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona at the age of 81.
Sue was born in Hooker, OK to Gene and Grace Akers. She was raised in Perryton, TX where she made many life-long friends. She also met the love of her life, Larry Lackey and they were married September 9, 1960.
After they started their family, they moved to Gruver to raise their two children. Sue became a well-established cosmetologist. She loved her job and the abundance of friendships and laughter that came with it.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, auntie, cousin and "TuTu", the endearing name the grandkids gave her. TuTu became a name even close friends knew her by.
During their marriage they lived in the Texas Panhandle from 1960-1998. From there, they moved to Southern California until Dec. 2007 and finally settled in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Sue is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry E. Lackey of Lake Havasu; her son Larry Joe Lackey and wife Katie also of Lake Havasu; her daughter, Shelly Lackey and friend Christine Jones. Her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Austin Lackey and wife Crystal, Jodi Matthews and husband Dave, and Cale Lackey and wife Julia. Also, her pride and joy, all of her "greats", Skylynn, Hailee Mae, Maesynn, Madison, Lily, Lilah, Oryn, Archer, Jade and her great-great-grandson Maverick. Her niece Stephanie and husband Mike Barber, her great nephews Jonathon, Dylan and family, great nieces Taylor and family and Madison and family. Multiple cousins and friends.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents Gene and Grace Akers, her sister Jeannie Allen, niece Johnna Wilkerson, her in laws E.V. "Dutch" and Veda Fern Lackey. Many precious aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends that she loved.
She was loved by so many and will be missed daily.
Just know that she has probably asked God to hold out two fingers so that she could put a phone shaped folded piece of paper on them and ask him to say "wing" three times……"hewoe"
