Terry Leverett Floyd, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Perryton, Texas, at the age of 86.  He was born on July 8, 1938, to Howard and Nellie Russell Floyd in a loving home, where he was welcomed by his older brother, Russell.

A proud graduate of Beaver High School, Terry pursued higher education at Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma, earning a double major in chemistry and biology with a minor in math.  During this time, he also earned his pilot's license.  He later continued his academic journey by studying agronomy at Oklahoma State University.

In a testament to his determination and devotion, Terry hitchhiked to and from college, choosing not to buy a car so he could save for an engagement ring.  After dating for seven years, he married the love of his life, Vera Pittman, on May 31, 1962.  Together they built a life grounded in love, hard work, and adventure.

Terry began his career at Phillips Petroleum Company, where he worked for six years before joining Ideal Cement Company.  His work took him to New Mexico, Louisiana, and Colorado, where the couple welcomed their daughters, Deirdre and Tacey.

In 1976, Terry and Vera returned to their hometown of Beaver, Oklahoma, to operate Floyd's Beaver Hardware store.  This move allowed Terry to fulfill a long-held dream of living in the country on the Pittman Family Farm.  He took joy in caring for a variety of animals – horses, donkeys, goats, peacocks, chickens, guineas, cats, dogs, and cattle.

After selling the hardware store in 2004, Terry and Vera embraced their love of travel.  Highlights included a 22-day European tour, a Baltic Sea cruise with family, and several bus tours.  A passionate hunter and avid gun collector, Terry even embarked on a big game hunt in South Africa.

Terry will be remembered for his deep love for family and friends, his curious and intelligent spirit, and his one-of-a-kind character.  He found joy in attending ballgames of his grandchildren, concerts with Vera and hosting picnics on the family farm where he served his homemade goat's milk rum raisin ice cream.  Terry was a kind, thoughtful man who marched to the beat of his own drum and made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Vera Pittman Floyd of Perryton; daughter Dierdre Floyd of Perryton; daughter and son-in-law Tacey and Shawn Sartorius of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and five grandchildren:  Rider Floyd Clapp and fiancée Kayla Bryant, Rangle Clapp, Range Clapp, Sierra Sartorius, and Russell Sartorius.

Terry's life was a beautiful blend of intellect, humor, independence, and love.  He will be dearly missed and forever cherished.

Services will be May 31, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. in Beaver, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be given to The First Presbyterian Church in Beaver or the Jones and Plummer Trail Museum also in Beaver, Oklahoma.
